Beneath Bayat’s earth’s surface lies an astonishing wealth of geology. Understanding the morphology, lithology, structure and history of the earth is like opening the pages of a story from the past. Geological mapping is the key to uncovering these secrets, like exploring a treasure map hidden beneath our feet. This article takes you into the world of UNDIP Bayat Geological Mapping 2024, a scientific adventure that combines careful field observations, in-depth data analysis, and sharp interpretation.

Let’s get ready to explore the world of geological mapping, an adventure full of knowledge and benefits, geological mapping is not just drawing lines on a map. It is a complex and interdisciplinary scientific process, combining various earth sciences such as structural geology, stratigraphy, mineralogy, and paleontology. The result is a geological map that is rich in information, like a window that opens our insight into the earth’s past.

UNDIP Geological Mapping 2024, was carried out in a series since April, which began with refreshment activities with the theme Measuring Stratigraphy and Structural Geology which were carried out on the Banyumeneng River and Brown Canyon Semarang. The adventure continues until the main activity on June 19 2024 which begins with a Geological Excursion activity in the Southern Mountains area, exploring various rock formations to find out the stratigraphy from the oldest in the form of pillow lava in Berbah to the youngest, namely the Wonosari Formation, revealing the story of the genesis of Java Island.

Geological Engineering’s Students observed geological condition of Bayat in the field

Mapping in Bayat-Klaten, starting with uncovering the geological mystery of West Jiwo and East Jiwo, is the basement of the island of Java in the form of metamorphic rocks spread across the surface of the Bayat earth, in the form of mica schist and phyllite. Hornfels, marble to graphite. This Geological Mapping reached its peak when this independent mapping activity was carried out, which was spread over three areas, namely Bayat, Wanagama and Berbah, a total of 3 basecamps, 28 plots, and 137 students with one goal, namely carrying out the obligation to find geological treasures as a manifestation of knowledge that has been acquired while studying Geological Engineering at Diponegoro University.

Geological mapping has taken us on an amazing journey, revealing the secrets of the earth and opening up insights into its past. Undip Geological Mapping 2024 is not just an activity, but an invaluable experience, redemption and proof. For geologists, geological mapping is a calling and a dedication to understanding the earth and communicating this knowledge to the world. This spirit needs to be fostered and preserved, to ensure that future generations can continue to explore the secrets of the earth and build a more sustainable future.
