Another achievement was won by Diponegoro University Geological Engineering students in the Indonesian student mining competition. The competition entitled Agincourt Resources’ Olympiad (OlympiAR) was held within a series of months long activities and the final week event was on Friday (31/3) – Sunday (2/4) at the Alana Hotel, Yogyakarta.

The Olympic competition activity organized PT Agincourt Resources with the theme “Mineral Discovery, Unearthing Sustainable Future”. In OlympiAR 2022, students competed in a case study of the Martabe Gold Mine process, from exploration to post-mining. This competition aims to encourage students to have experience and find new potential in geology and mining development. The end result of this competition is the processing of Mertabe Gold Mine resource calculation data and presentations which will later be used for educational activities.

Team Magsite consists of three students from year 2019: Aisyah Ghalda Lamis (21100119120006), Arindha Prameswari (21100119130060), and Muhammad Haviz Ramdhani (21100119130076). Being the only representative from Undip boosted their passion and enthusiasm to compete among 70 teams from 26 universities throughout Indonesia. They participated in various stages of the competition until they finally passed as finalists. Together with the other 4 finalist teams, Aisyah et al presented and defended their results brilliantly in front of the judges.

As the first winner, Team Magsite was awarded the 1st Warrior of OlympiAR title with prizes in the form of coaching money worth tens of millions of rupiah and the opportunity to take part in an internship at the Martabe Gold Mine, North Sumatra owned by PT Agincourt Resources. This victory is very valuable for Aisyah, Arin, and Haviz not only for the award but also for the knowledge gained.

“This competition is our first step to open up bigger opportunities and help us learn a lot about the world of mining, especially resource estimation. Hopefully in the future our juniors at Undip Geology can continue this achievement even on the international competition”, said the representative of the team.

All Undip academics, especially the Department of Geological Engineering, congratulate and thank you for the achievements that have been achieved.
