The First Pre-Supervisory and Operational Technical Guidance (Pre-POP) Training by the Department of Geological Engineering, Diponegoro University was again held on 10-14 July 2023. The implementation of the Pre-POP Training was held thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Geological Engineering with the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Central Java Province for the 2023 Fiscal Year. Education and training continues to be pursued by the Department of Geological Engineering UNDIP to improve the knowledge and skill of geological engineering graduates.
Pre-Supervisory and First Operational (Pre-POP) is one of the requirements for competent mining technical staff (KTT/PTL) according to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 26 of 2018 concerning Implementation of Mining Rules. The implementation of the Pre-POP Training is carried out for five days with an allotted time, four days for theoretical learning and the last day is used for field visits at mining sites. The event was attended by 25 final semester Geological Engineering students. The technical guidance event was officially opened by Mr. Agus Sugiharto as the Head of the Mineral and Coal Division of the ESDM Office for Central Java Province in Salatiga City, Monday (10/7/2023). In addition, Prof. Thomas Triadi Putranto as head of the Department of Geological Engineering UNDIP FT, Mr. Charles Tambunan, and Mr. Yudiana Hadiyat as Instructor of PPSDM Geominerba.
The technical guidance speakers came from the PPSDM Geominerba Widyaiswara, namely Mr. Charles Tambunan and Mr. Yudiana Hadiyat, who were also present in person to deliver material at the place where the training was held. The material provided by PPSDM Geominerba staff includes, Mining Safety Legislation, Hazard Identification and Risk Control (IBPR), Mining Safety Duties and Responsibilities, Inspection on Mining Activities, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Planned Mining Safety Meetings, Mine Accident Investigation, and Environmental Protection Regulations. The series of events on the last day carried out a field visit to the andesite mining site owned by PT Jati Kencana Beton in Kandangan Village, Bawen District, Semarang Regency.
The field visit was accompanied by the Head of Mining Engineering (KTT) and the Supervisor of PT Jati Kencana Beton, along with Central Java EMR staff who also accompanied. They provided an explanation in ongoing mining activities, in accordance with the material previously provided. The series of events took place smoothly and interactively, as seen from the timeliness and good interaction between students and speakers during the course of the event. After participating in the Pre-POP Technical Guidance, the hope is to increase student competence in understanding the implementation of principles regarding HSE and environmental management in the mining sector that can be applied in the world of work, especially in the field of mining management.
