Students from the Department of Geological Engineering UNDIP continue to make achievements in both academic and non-academic fields. This time, in the 2024 Geo Student Competition (GeoSC), the ROCKSTAR team consisting of Alief Azhar Abdillah, M. Audra Aufa Azmi, and M. Aimar Naufaldi, who are Class of 2022 students, succeeded in winning two 3rd place medals in the Outcrop Observation and Map Data Processing branches. Geomorphology. After previously taking a selection test and qualifying to become a finalist in the Geology Olympic Games category. This competition will be held offline at the Field and Engineering Campus of Jenderal Soedirman University for three days, namely 5 – 8 August 2024. In this competition activity, participants who qualify for the final stage will take part in a series of practical events which include Field Observation and Data Processing. Field observation is an activity in the form of a practical session for participants to test their field skills in interpreting a place using basic geological knowledge. Meanwhile, data processing is divided into primary data processing where participants will carry out data processing based on the results obtained during field observations and secondary data processing which is data that has been prepared by the committee, such as geophysical data.
Effort will not betray the results. The commitment and hard work of the ROCKSTAR team has proven to produce brilliant results. The success of the ROCKSTAR team in the 2024 Geo Student Competition (GeoSC) reflects their dedication and expertise in the field of geology. This success also reflects their ability to work together and adapt under pressure. During the competition, the team demonstrated a professional attitude and high dedication, which was the main key in achieving their achievements. The results obtained not only add to their portfolio of achievements but also raise the name of the UNDIP Geological Engineering Department at the national level. This competition gives them the opportunity to apply the geological theory they have learned in a practical context, honing their skills in field observation and data processing which is the core of geological science. The success of the ROCKSTAR team not only inspires other students to excel, but also strengthens UNDIP’s position as one of the leading institutions in geology education in Indonesia.
