Capacity Building is an activity carried out by an institution or group to improve the ability of both individuals and groups from the aspect of knowledge, work skills and behavior through interesting activities. The implementation of capacity building in an organization or institution is very important because it can increase the ability, especially the skills and work ethic of the institution’s members or employees.
The management of the Geological Engineering Department decided to carry out Capacity Building activities on March 10-11 2023 at the Puri Asri Hotel, Magelang, Central Java. The activity was packaged in such a way that the participants did not feel bored participating in the activity. Speech by the Head of the UNDIP Geological Engineering Department, Dr.rer.nat. Ir. Thomas Triadi Putranto, ST., M.Eng., IPU., ASEAN.Eng started the Capacity Building activity on the first day. It followed by the delivery of material by Devina Trisnawati, ST., M.Eng with the topic “The Role of Lecturers and Education Staff in Creating Excellent Graduates”. The second topic “Commitment to Improving the Quality and Quality of Service to Students” was delivered by Rinal Khaidar Ali, ST., M.Eng. Interestingly packaged fun games such as guessing game add to the liveliness of the activities.
The second day of the Capacity Building activity began with outdoor activities with the theme “Increasing Teamwork” guided by Jenian Marin, ST., M.Eng. Various interesting games such as yelling contests, singing contests, balloon running competitions which are carried out in groups or individually are held to improve skills and cooperation between teams. The next activity on the second day was the presentation of material by Anis Kurniasih, ST., MT with the topic “Improving the Sense of Responsibility in Carrying Out the Duties for Lecturer and Staff”. The provision of this material was also the end of a series of Capacity Building events for the Department of Geological Engineering UNDIP which were packaged nicely and attractively but were still able to improve individual and group abilities of the academic staff of the UNDIP Department of Geological Engineering.
