Workshop on Introduction to the Preparation of RKAB for Mining Companies is provided by the Geological, Mineral and Coal Human Resources Development Center (PPSDM Geominerba) in collaboration with the Energy and Mineral Resources Agency, Central Java Province. This workshop is a form of PPSDM Geominerba’s commitment to improving the competency of Geological and Earth Engineering students. This activity was carried out for five days from 8 July to 12 July 2024 at Front One HK Resort Semarang and was attended by 25 Geological Engineering students from Diponegoro University.
The event was opened by Ir. Dwi Anggoro Ismukurnianto, M.Sc. as Head of PPSDM Geominerba, then continued with remarks by the Head of the Mineral and Coal Division of the Central Java Province ESDM Service Agus Sugiharto, ST, MT. and Acting Head of the Geological Engineering Study Program Department, Diponegoro University, Dr. Dian Agus Widiarso, ST., MT. who also attended this activity. After the official opening, participants immediately took part in material activities presented by the Speaker from PPSDM Geominerba. The class activities are held from 08.00 – 17.00 WIB with different topic every day.
The material presented over five consecutive days included Mining Law, Aspects of Exploration and Production Operations, Technical and Conservation (Mining Technology), Environmental Protection Aspects (Environmental Management and Monitoring, Reclamation and Post-Mining), Mining Safety Aspects (Mining Risk Management), Standardization and Business Aspects of Mining Services and Aspects of Labor and Community Development and Empowerment (PPM).
In the world of mining, mining companies that have contract and mining license have the obligation to prepare and submit a Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) to the Minister or governor for approval because if the RKAB is not approved then all mining activities cannot be carried out. Therefore, participants were also tasked to practice preparing the RKAB according to the material presented. Participants are asked to form groups consisting of 5 people and then determine the type of mineral and coal mining that will be used. Once they have determined their mining company, the five groups must prepare a RKAB for Exploration and Production Operations in accordance with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 373.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2023 concerning Guidelines for Implementing the Preparation, Evaluation and Approval of Work Plans and Cost Budgets for Mineral and Coal Mining Business Activities. After that, all groups are required to present the results of the RKAB that have been prepared. When one group makes a presentation, the other group will act as an evaluator from the government.
In the evening, participants also enlivened the evening of friendship with PPSDM Geominerba by singing together. The entire series of workshop over the past five days has provided many benefits to participants, especially in supporting the competency in preparing RKAB for Mining Companies which is very much needed in the mining industry so that participants can better prepare themselves to be ready in the professional world.
